ABOUT ISU CREDIT UNION

“People helping people” has been the philosophy of the credit union movement for decades. The Indiana State University Federal Credit Union strives to live up to the credo with its varied services and commitment to members.

Today's ISU Credit Union, a not-for-profit financial institution owned and operated by its members, in no way resembles the modest means with which it first began. Chartered in 1960, ISU Credit Union was organized by a small group of faculty at Indiana State University who were familiar with the benefits of a credit union. ISU Credit Union has grown from a one-room office in Reeve Hall on the ISU campus to its attractive facility on North 3rd Street.

As a financial cooperative, ISU Credit Union is different from other types of financial institutions. Every member of the credit union is an owner. Because of its not-for-profit status, members are able to receive more affordable financial products and services than traditional for-profit institutions can provide. Regulated by the National Credit Union Administration, an agency of the federal government, ISU Credit Union runs a financially sound, member-oriented operation.

The ISU Credit Union offers both standard and innovative financial services. In addition to basic deposit and loan products, the ISU Credit Union offers a full range of remote delivery amenities, including ATMs in Clay, Sullivan, Vermillion, and Vigo counties, 24-hour Touch Tone Teller, CUOnline and Mobile Account Access, debit and credit cards and electronic payment.

Through its history, a local, volunteer board of directors who are elected annually has led ISU Credit Union. As a not-for-profit organization, ISU Credit Union has always had a social mission and a definite sense of community. A member of several community and professional organizations, ISU Credit Union supports charitable concerns.

In 1995, the credit union became Indiana State University's first “President's Merit Scholar” donor, providing a full, four-year scholarship to a selected incoming freshman. In 2008, ISU Credit Union began its own scholarship in the ISU Credit Union Scholarship Program. To date, the credit union has awarded $204,000 in scholarships to 45 college students through this program.

Providing the best traditional and innovative services possible, the Indiana State University Federal Credit Union will continue to encourage “people helping people” in this financially competitive world.

The Indiana State University Federal Credit Union is committed to member service and will provide the best traditional and innovative financial services possible, while maintaining fiscal and civic responsibility.
